Ripple completes acquisition of Hidden Road for $1.25 billion
Ripple has just taken a major strategic step forward with the acquisition of prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion. This operation, one of the most ambitious in the crypto sector, propels Ripple to the heart of global financial infrastructures. Hidden Road, which handles more than $3 trillion in volumes per year, is a key player in institutional markets, particularly in derivatives, currencies and digital assets.
By getting its hands on this platform, Ripple becomes the first crypto company to own a global multi-asset PRIME broker. The objective is twofold: to integrate finance networks deeply and to strengthen the use of its in-house products such as the RLUSD stablecoin. The latter will be used for cross margin on the PRIME brokerage platform, positioning Ripple as a pioneer in the integration of stablecoins into institutional risk management.
The operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at making XRPL the preferred infrastructure for post-market settlements. This migration should reduce costs and accelerate capital flows, key elements in attracting traditional financial players. Ripple thus intends to capitalise on its more than 60 global regulatory licences to become an essential bridge between DeFi and traditional finance.
