π₯ TODAY'S HOT NEWS
Shopify accepts USDC for payments
Shopify is accelerating its shift towards cryptocurrencies. The e-commerce platform is now offering its merchants the option of accepting USDC payments. This has been made possible through a strategic partnership with Coinbase and Stripe.
Initially made available through an early access program, this option will be available worldwide by the end of 2025. Payments are made via the Base network, and customers can pay in USDC from a variety of wallets.
Merchants will have their funds automatically converted into their local currency, with no exchange fees or technical management required. They can also choose to keep their USDC.
The solution is technically based on an open-source protocol developed with Coinbase that is designed to address retail constraints such as tax management, refunds and deferred authorisations.
With this integration, Shopify continues to establish itself as a leader in online commerce. It will appeal to a global customer base, simplify cross-border payments and capitalise on the growing popularity of stablecoins.
